Is Dr. Samara board certified?

Yes. Dr. Samara is board certified in Family Medicine and a member of Institute for Functional Medicine. This means she has all the same training, rights and capabilities of all other Family Medicine Physicians regarding writing prescriptions, ordering labs, diagnostic testing if needed. In addition, she is committed to assisting you in finding the root causes of your health imbalance. She will assess your lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, stress levels and the health of your relationships, while taking time to listen to YOU. She will inquire when and how your health issues first began, most often addressing your prenatal and childhood health. After carefully listening to YOUR story and taking all factors into consideration, you will leave your appointment with an effective and personalized treatment plan, equipped with tools to heal yourself.

How long will I expect my visits to be?

Expect to spend 2 hours at the office for your initial visit, including check-in/check-out time. You will spend 60-90 minutes face-to face time with Dr. Samara. The consultation fee includes time spent before your visit that Dr. Samara needs in order to review past lab results, paperwork, and intake forms. Your follow-up visits may be face-to-face or by phone and usually will last 30-60 minutes depending on complexity and time to review lab work.

If you have 3 cancellations without proper notification you will be considered for being discharged from our practice.

Will my medical insurance pay for my lab testing?

This depends on your insurance. The lab company will directly bill your insurance and you may or may not be responsible for those fees. Most conventional labs are covered by insurance and those you are likely already familiar with. These are labs such as thyroid testing (TSH), CBC, chemistry, vitamin D, Iron levels, Glucose and Cholesterol panel. These are usually covered by insurance.

Functional laboratory tests were designed to shed more light on the nutritional aspect of healing. These tests are important because they provide more information on how best to support and nourish your body and mind. Dr. Samara uses conventional tests as well but also uses lab tests that are cutting edge and center around health and healing, not disease and drug based medication.

Please note that the functional lab testing and supplements are an integral part of our process to uncover the root cause of your health issues. Without these tests, we are guessing at best. If you are searching for answers as to why you feel the way you do, we believe in testing- not Guessing. If you are on a limited budget, there are still options available and testing can be scaled back.

Do I need to pay every-time for a lab test?

Yes. Each time you have lab test done, you will be responsible for any charges for those lab tests.
